Podcast: Awareness - Exploration - Liberation

I was a guest on BBXX’s podcast - Let’s get Intimate - in early 2023.
This was a fun & broad-ranging discussion of pleasure, relationships, therapy, shame & connection to our bodies. An interesting & thought-provoking chat, and a bit of a personal one for me!

From the show notes:

“We talk about the mind-body connection, how to influence our bodies through our mind—and inversely—how to influence our mind through our body.

We explore what sex represents, the meanings we attach to it, and some common anxieties and fears underlying it. We discuss shame, the purpose it serves, where it originates from, and ways to liberate ourselves from shame through awareness and exploration of ourselves and our relationship to sex & sexuality.

Arlyn Owens is a psychosexual therapist, educator, and registered nurse. Arlyn provides counseling and therapy around the topics of sexuality, intimacy, and relationships. His areas of expertise include communication, shame and identity, kink, and consensual non-monogamy.”

Podcast: Opening Up To Ethical Non-Monogamy

In early 2022, I joined my friend & colleague - the amazing Georgia Grace (@gspot._ on Instagram) - on her podcast; IN BED, via Nova Podcasts. We talked about the basics of exploring & negotiating non-monogamy. Aside from myself, Georgia was also joined by a few more wonderful & insightful guests. Well worth a listen!

From the show notes:

“When you hear the words open relationship or ethical non-monogamy, you probably have some presumptions about the kinds of people who are in these relationships and what their connection is like. In this episode, Georgia talks to people exploring non-monogamy and the experts to get a better understanding of why more people are opening up their relationships.”

Podcast: Sex, Disability & Rehab

In October 2021, I joined my amazing colleague Candice on ‘Have The Nerve’, Spinal Cord Injury Australia’s (SCIA) podcast. We had a great discussion about Sex & Disability, and talk a little bit about our sex-positive service at Royal Rehab.

Here’s the show description:

Candice Care-Unger and Arlyn Owens from Royal Rehab's Sexuality Service in Sydney talks to Susan about how sexual self-esteem and empowering sexual confidence in people with disability is more than the literal mechanics of sex.
Whether you've had your disability long term, or recently, Candice and Arlyn talk about psychosexual intervention, the holistic approach to sexual wellbeing and how the media's ableist portrayal of sex has skewed society's expectation of dating someone with a disability.

Podcast: Virginity

In November 2020, I was a guest on Triple J’s ‘The Hookup’ show, to speak on the concept of Virginity.
I joined two other guest speakers- Amazing Sex Coach Georgia Grace, and University of Melbourne academic Lauren Rosewarne.

We had a great & fun chat about what Virginity is, and how the concept really doesn’t serve people & can even be harmful. Have a listen on Spotify or any other good Podcast provider!
